Eduqas is the exam board for England, while WJEC serves Wales. Key differences: Eduqas uses raw marks only (no UMS conversion), it's a linear qualification (all exams at end of Year 13), and there's no separate AS level that contributes to the A-Level. WJEC uses UMS and has AS units contributing to the final grade.
No. Eduqas A-Level Biology is a linear qualification. If you want to resit, you must resit ALL 3 components in the same exam series. Your previous results will be replaced entirely by your new results.
Component 1 (Energy for Life): 100 marks, 2 hours. Covers photosynthesis, respiration, microbiology, and metabolism.
Component 2 (Continuity of Life): 100 marks, 2 hours. Covers reproduction, inheritance, variation, evolution, and applications of genetics.
Component 3 (Requirements for Life): 100 marks, 2 hours. Covers homeostasis, the environment, and one optional topic (Immunology, Human Musculoskeletal Anatomy, or Neurobiology and Behaviour).
