Eduqas is the exam board for England, while WJEC serves Wales. Key differences: Eduqas uses raw marks only (no UMS conversion), it’s a linear qualification (all exams at end of Year 13), and there’s no separate AS level that contributes to the A-Level. WJEC uses UMS and has AS units contributing to the final grade.
No. Eduqas A-Level Biology is a linear qualification. If you want to resit, you must resit all 3 components in the same exam series. Your previous results will be replaced entirely by your new results.
Component 1 (Energy for Life): 100 marks, 2 hours. Covers photosynthesis, respiration, microbiology, and metabolism. Component 2 (Continuity of Life): 100 marks, 2 hours. Covers reproduction, inheritance, variation, evolution, and applications of genetics. Component 3 (Requirements for Life): 100 marks, 2 hours. Covers homeostasis, the environment, and one optional topic (Immunology, Human Musculoskeletal Anatomy, or Neurobiology and Behaviour).
This calculator uses official grade boundary data published by Eduqas. Overall grade boundaries are exact. Component-level boundaries are described by Eduqas as ‘notional’ — they give a good indication of component performance but your final grade depends on your total marks across all 3 components.
