Online One-to-One A-Level Biology Tuition
Private online A-Level Biology sessions with Tyrone — a Chartered Biologist and former WJEC/Eduqas & Edexcel examiner with over 25 years of teaching experience. Sessions tailored entirely to your exam board, your syllabus, and your individual needs.
Why Choose One-to-One Tuition?
One-to-one tuition gives you my full attention for the entire session. Every lesson is tailored to your exam board specification, your strengths, your weaknesses, and your goals. This is the most effective way to improve your understanding and exam performance.
Fully Personalised
Every session is built around your specific exam board, the topics you find difficult, and the areas where you can gain the most marks.
Examiner Insight
As a former examiner for WJEC/Eduqas and Edexcel, I teach you exactly what examiners look for and how marks are awarded.
Flexible Scheduling
Book sessions when it suits you. Available 7am to 8:30pm, Monday to Friday. No minimum commitment required.
Everything Included
Past papers, detailed topic notes, a video recording of every lesson, and full access to the student portal with digital resources.
How Online Tuition Works
I have been tutoring A-Level Biology online for over 8 years. I am set up with a high-speed internet connection, a 4K monitor, a high-specification computer, a webcam, and a graphics tablet — everything needed to deliver a professional online lesson.
Connect via Zoom
I use Zoom to connect to your computer. You receive a link to the student portal with your Zoom access and all digital resources.
Interactive Whiteboard
Using my digital whiteboard, I show diagrams, images, videos, past paper questions, and notes. Both of us can view and annotate the screen in real time.
Recap and Build
Each lesson starts with a recap of previous work to check understanding before moving forward. This spaced repetition helps knowledge stick.
Recorded for Rewatching
Every session is recorded so you can go back and rewatch any part of the lesson. This is one of the biggest advantages of online tuition over face-to-face.
What Equipment Do You Need?
You do not need anything expensive. Most students already have everything they need.
Computer or Laptop

Who One-to-One Tuition Is For
One-to-one tuition is the right choice if you recognise yourself in any of these situations. Every plan is built around your exam board and your goals after a free consultation.
Aiming for an A or A*
Most marks at the top end are lost on exam technique, not knowledge. Targeted one-to-one work closes the gap between a good answer and a full-mark answer.
Catching Up
Behind after illness, a school staffing gap or a tough term? We catch up quickly, at your pace, without waiting for a class to move on.
Stuck on Specific Topics
Respiration, the nervous system, genetics or statistics holding you back? We fix the difficult topics properly rather than hoping they don’t come up.
Medicine & Healthcare Applicants
Applying for Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science? I help you secure the A* competitive courses expect, and link Biology to your wider application.
What Results Can You Expect?
Every student I have taught one-to-one has improved their grade. That is a consequence of how the sessions work: we find the specific marks you are losing, fix the underlying cause, and prove the improvement against real past-paper questions.
Measured, Not Assumed
We work through marked past-paper questions so you can see the jump in your marks for yourself, not just take it on trust.
Understanding First
Once a process genuinely makes sense, recall and application follow — which is exactly what the higher-mark questions reward.
Technique Taught Explicitly
Command words, the structure of 6-mark and extended answers, reading data questions, and the calculations examiners set — taught directly.
How I Teach — My Approach
I teach A-Level Biology and nothing else, and I have done so for over 25 years. That focus matters: I know where every specification hides its marks, which topics students consistently find hardest, and the misconceptions that cost marks year after year.
As a Chartered Biologist (CBiol MRSB) and Member of the Chartered College of Teaching (MCCT), with a BSc (Hons) in Immunology from King’s College London and a PGCE, I combine genuine subject expertise with proper teaching qualifications. As a past examiner for WJEC/Eduqas and Edexcel, I have marked real scripts — so I teach you to write the answer the mark scheme is actually looking for, not just a “correct” one.
My lessons follow a simple, evidence-based rhythm: recap to check prior learning, teach the new material with diagrams and worked questions, then apply it immediately to past-paper questions so the knowledge is tested while it is fresh. Every lesson is recorded for you to rewatch.

No. You can book a single session with no commitment. However, most students benefit from regular weekly sessions to build momentum and cover the syllabus thoroughly.
Yes. I ask for 24 hours notice for cancellations. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may be charged at the full hourly rate.
I cover all major UK and international A-Level Biology exam boards: AQA, Edexcel (A, B, and International), OCR A, OCR B, WJEC, Eduqas, IB Biology, and Cambridge International (CIE). I have examined for WJEC/Eduqas and Edexcel.
Yes. I have been teaching online for over 8 years and the results speak for themselves — all my students have improved their grades. Online tuition has the added advantage of recorded lessons you can rewatch, and no travel time for either party.
Yes. You can book a free 20-minute consultation to discuss your needs, your exam board, and how I can help. There is no obligation to continue.
It depends on your starting point and how long you have before your exams. Some students book a one-off session for a single tricky topic; most students aiming for a top grade work with me weekly across the year. After a free consultation I will give you an honest recommendation.
Yes. The step up to A2 content, and the synoptic questions that link topics together, is where many students stall. We plan for it directly so the transition does not catch you out.
I can, where it helps. I will point you to the right past-paper questions and topic notes in the student portal, and we review them together in the next session.
Absolutely — especially for the free consultation, which I prefer to do with parent and student together so everyone understands the plan from the start.
Yes. I offer group tuition for WJEC and Eduqas students at £50 per student per hour. Groups run from 2 to 8 students, for both Year 12 and Year 13.
