What a full-mark write-up looks like
Analysis section – choosing and justifying the statistical test:
“The data are two independent sets of continuous measurements, so a Student’s t-test is used to compare the means. The null hypothesis is that there is no significant difference between the two means. The calculated t value is compared with the critical value at p = 0.05 and the relevant degrees of freedom; as t exceeds the critical value, the null hypothesis is rejected and the difference is significant.”
