Why Easter Is the Most Important Revision Window

Easter falls at a critical point in the A-Level calendar. With Biology exams starting in early June, the Easter holidays give you approximately 5–8 weeks of focused preparation time. This is your best opportunity to consolidate Year 13 content, close gaps in understanding, and practise the exam techniques that separate a B from an A.

2026 Easter & Exam Timeline

Easter holidays: 30 March – 10 April • First Biology exams: early June • Results day: 13 August 2026

Most students underestimate how much progress is possible in this window. With the right structure and guidance, Easter revision can be the difference between meeting your university offer and missing it. Here’s what makes this period so valuable.

1

Concentrated Time Without School Distractions

Two weeks of uninterrupted study time is rare during the academic year. Easter lets you focus entirely on the topics and skills that matter most, without homework deadlines or timetable constraints pulling you in different directions.

2

Close Enough to Exams for Knowledge to Stick

Revision done too early fades. Easter sits in the optimal window — close enough to exams that what you learn stays fresh, but far enough away to build genuine understanding rather than just cramming.

3

Time to Act on Mock Results

By Easter, you have your mock results and know exactly where the gaps are. Rather than revising everything equally, we can target the specific topics and question types that cost you marks.

Key fact: In 2024, only 27.7% of A-Level Biology students achieved an A or A*. The students who use Easter effectively are disproportionately represented in that top group.

What Easter Revision Sessions Include

My Easter revision sessions are not generic group lectures. Every session is tailored to your exam board, your weak topics, and your target grade. Whether you need to solidify foundations or polish A* exam technique, the approach is built around you.

Exam-Board-Specific Content

Sessions are tailored to your exact specification — AQA 7402, Edexcel 9BN0, OCR H420, WJEC 1400, Eduqas A400, or whichever board you study. No wasted time on content that’s not in your syllabus.

Past Paper Practice Under Timed Conditions

Past papers are the single most effective revision tool. We work through exam questions together, with me showing you exactly how to structure answers that match the mark scheme — drawing on my experience as a former examiner.

Recorded Sessions & Student Portal Access

Every session is recorded so you can rewatch explanations as many times as you need. You also get full access to the student portal with detailed notes, video tutorials, and additional exam questions.

Examiner Insight on Mark Schemes

As a former examiner for WJEC/Eduqas and Edexcel, I teach you the precise language and structure examiners look for. This insider knowledge is what turns a borderline answer into full marks.

Studying WJEC or Eduqas? I provide specialist Easter revision for WJEC (1400) and Eduqas (A400) Biology — including QER technique, unit-specific past paper practice, and mark scheme analysis from a former WJEC/Eduqas examiner. See full details.

The Only Specialist Easter Revision for WJEC & Eduqas Biology

If you study WJEC or Eduqas A-Level Biology, you already know that finding exam-board-specific support is difficult. The major Easter revision providers — PMT Education, MPW, A-Level Revision UK, Study Mind — offer courses for AQA and OCR only. WJEC and Eduqas students are left without specialist Easter revision options.

That gap is exactly what I fill. As a former WJEC/Eduqas examiner with over 13 years of teaching WJEC Biology at Gower College Swansea, I provide Easter revision that is genuinely tailored to the WJEC and Eduqas specifications — including the QER (Quality of Extended Response) questions that carry significant marks and require a specific writing style.

WJEC & Eduqas students: I am one of the only tutors in the UK offering exam-board-specific Easter revision for WJEC (1400) and Eduqas (A400) A-Level Biology, backed by genuine examiner experience. See my WJEC page or Eduqas page for more details.

High-Value Topics to Focus on Over Easter

Not all topics are equal. Some appear more frequently in exams, carry more marks, or are consistently answered poorly by students. Based on my 25 years of teaching and examining experience, these are the topics where Easter revision has the biggest impact on your final grade.

Respiration & Photosynthesis
Protein Synthesis & Gene Expression
Genetics & Inheritance
Ecology & Ecosystems
Homeostasis & the Kidney
Nervous System & Synapses
Immunity & Disease
Mathematical Skills & Data Analysis
Extended Response / Essay Questions
Practical Skills (Written Exam Component)

Of course, your Easter revision plan should be based on your mock results and the specific areas where you’re losing marks. In our free consultation, I’ll assess your current position and recommend exactly which topics to prioritise.

Easter Revision: Frequently Asked Questions

Ideally, you should have a revision plan in place before the Easter holidays begin. Easter falls approximately 5–8 weeks before A-Level Biology exams start in early June. Use Easter to focus on your weakest topics, practise past papers under timed conditions, and refine your exam technique.

A structured Easter revision course can make a significant difference in this critical window. Book a free consultation and I’ll help you plan the most effective use of your Easter break.

Yes. I am one of the only tutors in the UK offering specialist Easter revision for WJEC and Eduqas A-Level Biology. As a former WJEC/Eduqas examiner, I know exactly what examiners look for in QER questions and how marks are awarded across all units.

Most Easter revision providers — including PMT Education, MPW, and Study Mind — only offer courses for AQA and OCR. If you’re studying WJEC or Eduqas Biology, I can provide the board-specific support that simply isn’t available elsewhere.

One-to-one Easter revision sessions are £80 per hour. Small group sessions (minimum 4 students on the same exam board) are £50 per student per hour. You can book individual sessions or a block across the holidays. A free 20-minute consultation is included before you commit.

All major UK and international A-Level Biology exam boards: AQA, Edexcel (A, B and International), OCR A and OCR B, WJEC, Eduqas, IB Biology, and Cambridge International (CIE). Sessions are tailored to your specific specification.

Focus on the topics you find most difficult and those that carry the most marks. Commonly high-value topics include respiration and photosynthesis, protein synthesis, genetics and inheritance, ecology and ecosystems, and homeostasis. Past paper analysis shows these appear most frequently across all exam boards.

The most effective approach is a tailored plan based on your own mock results. In our free consultation, I’ll assess where you are and recommend exactly which topics to prioritise.

Not at all. Easter is a critical revision window, not a late one. With 5–8 weeks until exams, there is still time to make significant improvements — particularly in exam technique, which is often where the biggest marks are lost.

I have helped students improve by one or two grades with focused work in this period. The key is targeting the right topics and building the right exam skills. See my students’ results.

All sessions are delivered online via an interactive whiteboard platform with screen sharing. Every session is fully recorded so you can rewatch explanations before your exams. You also receive access to the student portal with additional notes, videos, and exam questions.

Online delivery means students across the UK and internationally can access Easter revision support — no travel required.
